Braids are a great protective hairstyle. They remain in shape for weeks with little maintenance and also keep your hair protected and healthy from damaging environmental factors. As great as they are, however, they risk unhealthy build-up if worn for longer than 6-8 weeks. These build-ups cause varying degrees of damage. The worst cases require your hair to get cut. But don’t worry, we are here to help you through it all! Here are some tips on how you can remove your post-brain build-up.
1. Be Patient
Remove your braids gently. Don’t get frustrated or anxious. Tugging and roughness will only cause damage to your hair and scalp. Once you have taken out the extensions and undone your braids, gently run your fingers through your hair. Pull the matted portions of your hair apart without using too much force. Use a natural oil for stubborn areas.
2. Cleanse Your Hair
Once you have worked your way through the matted sections, wet your hair with water. Use the MegaGrowth Neutralizing Shampoo to cleanse your hair and restore the right pH balance. Massage your scalp gently in circular motions to remove the build-up. This might take some time and multiple washes with your shampoo.
3. Restore Moisture
Condition your hair after rinsing off the shampoo. You may use a regular conditioner. A deep conditioner, however, will do wonders for your hair. Add some heat into the mix and let your hair soak in all the moisture and nourish itself.
